Hello,
Thank you for reaching out. I am sorry to hear that you have been experiencing these symptoms since your breast augmentation.
Symptoms such as rashes, hair loss, heart palpitations and blurred vision have been reported by some women with breast implants. However, these symptoms may have several different causes, and there is currently no specific test that can confirm that the implants are responsible. I would therefore recommend that you also have the symptoms medically evaluated, particularly the palpitations and blurred vision, rather than assuming that they are all caused by the implants.
I perform breast implant removal in Stockholm, and you are very welcome to book a consultation with me at Improva Plastikkirurgi. During the consultation, I would examine your breasts, review the implant information and operative report, and assess the condition of the implants and capsules.
A total capsulectomy can sometimes be performed, but it is not automatically necessary or safest for every patient. Because your implants are positioned beneath the muscle, the posterior capsule may lie directly against the ribs and chest wall. Attempting to remove every part of it can increase the risk of bleeding, injury to the chest wall and, rarely, pneumothorax. The capsule may also be very thin.
The safest approach therefore needs to be decided individually. Depending on the findings, the options may include implant removal alone, partial capsulectomy or total capsulectomy. A total capsulectomy is more clearly indicated when there is significant capsular contracture, implant rupture, an abnormal capsule or suspicion of an implant-associated malignancy. I would not promise a total capsulectomy before examining you, but I would discuss your wishes carefully and remove as much of the capsule as is medically justified and safe.
At the consultation, we would also discuss the expected breast shape after removal. Depending on the size of the implants, skin quality and amount of natural breast tissue, the breasts may appear deflated or droopy, and a breast lift may sometimes be considered either at the same operation or at a later stage.
Please bring your implant card and, if possible, the operative report from your augmentation. You are warmly welcome to book a consultation with me so that we can make an individual and medically safe plan. 🩵
